Why the FT moved 1m users to HTML5

Online sales account for around 25% of the FT’s income. The paper took the big decision to move to HTML5 for mobile apps around two years ago, and released its HTML5 iPad app last August.

In this post, Smith explains why this move was so necessary for the paper, and discusses some of the issues and challenges involved.
